Shirts
ASASI makes men's linen shirts in Bali. Every shirt in this collection is designed in London and made in Bali by local ateliers, in small batches, in fabrics chosen for tropical heat and humidity rather than adapted from a design made for somewhere colder. If you are looking for a linen shirt in Bali, this is the range to start with.
The Origin is the core linen shirt: a breathable cotton-linen blend in a relaxed straight cut with a classic collar and a single chest pocket, in long and short sleeves and in colourways from Black and Ocre to Sierra Olive, Hearthstone and Ridgewood. The Homage is the tailored option, with a European cut that tapers through the body, a button-down collar and a greyhound detail on the cuff. The Affine is looser: a short-sleeve shirt in smooth rayon twill with an oversized silhouette that wears like a size up. For evenings, the Opulent shirt and the Shadow long sleeve are the smarter choices.
Linen breathes, dries quickly and softens with every wash, which is why it is the standard shirt fabric for Bali's climate. Each product page lists the model's height and size, so you can see how each cut sits before you order.
You can try the range in ASASI's four Bali stores in Canggu, Pererenan, Ubud and Nusa Dua, or shop online with international shipping.
Linen shirt FAQs
When should you wear a linen shirt?
Wear a linen shirt whenever the weather is warm and humid: on a beach walk, at a café, on a flight or at a relaxed dinner. Linen suits daytime and smart-casual evenings, and a structured cut such as the ASASI Homage works for a work meeting in a warm climate. It is less suited to occasions that need a crisp, ironed finish.
Does linen wrinkle, and does it matter?
Yes, linen wrinkles, and that is part of its character. The creases are soft rather than sharp, and they relax as you wear the shirt. A cotton-linen blend such as the ASASI Origin wrinkles less than pure linen. For a smoother look, hang the shirt straight after washing or steam it lightly.
How should linen fit?
Linen should fit slightly relaxed, with room through the chest and shoulders so air can move. The ASASI Origin has a relaxed straight cut, the Homage is tailored and tapers through the body, and the Affine is oversized and wears like a size up. If you are between sizes, check the model height and size on the product page.
How do you wash and care for linen?
Wash linen in cool or lukewarm water on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent and no bleach. Avoid a hot tumble dry: hang the shirt to dry, and press or steam it while slightly damp for a smoother finish. Linen softens with every wash. Always check the care label on the garment first.
Is linen good for humid weather?
Yes, linen is one of the best fabrics for humid weather. The fibres are breathable, absorb moisture and dry quickly, so the fabric feels cooler on the skin than most synthetics. That is why ASASI uses linen and cotton-linen blends for the Origin and Homage shirts, and a linen-rayon blend for its pants.
